Ellery: bedtime routine often looks like this
Aubrey: squeals and giggles

The golden light edition.

If the weather is good, we often head to the beach in the afternoon. We take the big boy's dinner, which is usually eaten whilst running around. Usually naked.

It's the perfect way to wear him out, and he often conks out in the car on the way home.

We also get some time for photography (him) or yoga (me), whilst he is busy carving up the sand.

Everyone wins.

And the small boy. Squeals and giggles this week!

Ellery: rare moment of stillness
Aubrey: my little delight

The big boy gave himself a black eye doing craft. He is so very accident prone lately, especially as his play has become so much more physical.

And oh, my little heartbreaker. He is all giggles and smiles. (And worried faces when his brother loves on him. Like a tornado.)

At the moment I much prefer the photos I'm capturing on my phone. The quality is far from portrait worthy, but I'm going with them because they capture the spirit of these most beautiful boys.

Ellery: resting in a casuarina grove
Aubrey: equal parts serious and smiles

We went on a bushwalk, scrambling across rugged headland.

The big boy was a trooper, walking nearly the entire way until conking out five minutes from home.

The small boy slept through his first proper hike, waking only to eat and take in the glorious view at our rest spot atop a rugged cove.

We need to do this more.

Ellery: unwinding in our local beach lagoon
Aubrey: putting on the chub!

The week that ended with the big boy having a bad fall requiring a rather stressful overnight trip to Brisbane for a hospital visit. Think juggling two small kids in cars and boats for half a day (each way) and solo parenting to boot - not my idea of fun.

Thankfully, he is fine.
